All jokes about parts from a Tempo slowing down a Mustang aside, I do not know if it is a design worth keeping. I remember them being weak from the factory. The LMR ones I have both work great, if only one is plugged in at a time. They seem to take more amps than the circuit can flow.
If do not want to modify, this is good info to know.
Below is a repeated post from @jrichker . I hope the generic ones are also still available.it looks like they are a whole $7.73 now.

Follow this link to fix your door lock actuator problems

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $7. Fix one side for $20, do both sides for only $28. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.

By the way, i am still using the same $4 actuators I bought in 2002 and this is the second Mustang I have installed them in! Beat that with your fancy replacements!

If you go with a different brand than Motorcraft, I would avoid Dorman if at all possible. Standard Ignition at least to be a better brand at the FLAPS that supplied repair shops. Borg Warner was also a premium brand, but I think the Borg was assimilated by another company, so quality may vary.

Very good info. I've replaced door lock actuators with LMR replacements. Very disappointing results.
