Ok guys my door lock actuator has gone south on me as of recently, and I want to replace it. Blue Oval Corral said they should be able to get me a used one for $20, but they said they would charge $60 or so to install it.

I really don't wanna pay that much. But I have virtually NO experience working inside the doors of cars, especially a Mustang. I was told this job would be a huge PITA.

If there is anyone out there who has done this can you fill me in on what tools you needed, how you went through the process and if paying to have it done would be a good idea.

Thanks in advance guys.

I've never done it, but i wouldnt be afraid to do it. If you have some common sense about automotive stuff then you should be able to handle it. I think its riveted on and you have to drill the rivet and replace it with a screw. I'll give you bump anyways

its worth having someone do it for you. ive done a little bit of inside door work. the part you are talking about is all the way to the left on the inside of the door (POP is you sitting in driver's seat). itll be a bitch.

It aint that hard, do it yourself. Paying someone to fix the actuator is like paying someone to change your oil. Take the door skin off and feel back there with your hand. There is a U shaped bracket that holds the cylinder in place. It slides over top of the cylinder and holds it firmly in place. Take your time and figure it out, it'll be worth $60.

Thanks for the info everyone, looks like I'll just pay to have it done.
