Do the power door lock actuators work independantly, or in circuit. Neither of my door locks work. I pulled the passenger side door apart, and found the switch is getting power, as is the actuator at the plug, and the actuator was just hanging around beating up the door. The rivet holding the bracket in place broke. If my driver side actuator is good, will it unlock the driver side, or do i need to replace the actuator on the passenger side first?

While I' m on the subject of locks, I' ve also noticed that about half of the time when I shut the door, it will either lock or unlock by itself. If the door is unlocked, it will lock itself. If it is locked, it will unlock itself. WTF?!?!

Sounds like you might have a wiring problem inside the accordion boot at the door jamb if your locks are working flaky with the door opening/closing.

one will work if the other is broke. My driver side one is bad but my passenger side still works. just get the kit from 50resto. it comes with rivets and is only $59.99. I called my local orillieys and they want $60 each and they don't come with the rivets or anything else.

Thanks for your help guys. I only had one panel off, and it' s back on now. I might look into that retrofit kit.

I' m puzzled by the flaky locking issue, but I' m not sure if it' s electrical or not. If it we something electrical, wouldn' t it unlock or lock both doors? The problem only occurs on the door I' m closing, not both as if the actuators were causing the problem.

Yea, I definitely WON' T be buying actuators from Oreilly!

If the problem is only happening when you close the door and not opening the door the actuator or wiring could be going flaky due to the impact of closing the door. You might be able to replicate the problem by tapping on the actuator or wiggling some wires.

I'm fighting the same thing as well right now. I have brand new actuators (from 50resto), but I have no power locks. They just won't work at all. I know the windows are wired together because you can't roll the passenger side down if the switch is disconnected on that side, I'm thinking the locks are the same. If you have a broken actuator plugged in, it would still think that it was complete and will work on the side w/ the good actuator. I really don't want to rip everything apart again just to see if its a wiring problem....
