Door Moulding - I'm going to be sick...

I'm new to this section of the forum as I used to prowl the 5.0L section, now I have had my 01 4.6 for going on two years and love it.

Anyways, I decided tonight to test the waters and try and remove the bump strips down the middle of my doors. I started with the passenger door.

I was considering just taking some dental floss and pulling it between the door and the moulding, but I just decided to pull it away gently.

It came off of the door without too much trouble, and I rolled away most of the excess adhesive tape with my thumb. Looked good in the dim lighting.

Then I took a closer look - there was two little hunks of paint missing from under the strip, down to the primer... and the most disheartening part was what I saw next -- almost the whole length of the strip, in between the two strips of adhesive tape - the paint is bubbling.

I am just about to puke because of how bad this is, and how bad it looks. Of course it looks better from 10ft, but up close is a joke.

I am out of ideas as to what to do and looking for suggestions... I may just put it back on - the drivers side is still left as is.

Has anyone else encountered problems such as this? My oh my I hate that trim.

I'll be ripping off the metal backing on the trim, and putting it back on with trim tape. As said, I'tll do until I get the car painted. I need the drivers door worked on anyways, as the door lock got jacked up from being broken into. (car is left unlocked now haha)

I'm still looking for a paint / body guru to chime in;
While I've been trying to ignore this and pretend it never happened by leaving the car in the shop... I went out just now to take a closer look.

After touching and pushing on the ripples - it appears that every little bubble is full of water. I'm now starting to wonder if the space in the middle of the moulding where there is no adhesive has allowed water to freeze and thaw cycle in there, and somehow penetrated the paint? This makes me question the integrity of the whole paint.

If there is water under the paint thats going to cause rust. I'd get it taken care of and hope rust isnt under the paint just eating it away....only way to fix is to get a body shop to sand it down and respray

Strange, but it is between the paint and the primer. Zero rust on this car. When I poked the paint (yes I am getting really testy with it haha) clear water came out. Plus, if it were rust i'm sure it would have gone crazy by now as that would be an ideal environment.

I'm stumped. I almost want to leave it for now but I am afraid if I hit the car with the pressure washer it will rip all of those bubbles out. I also wonder what it is like on the drivers side under the moulding - but I'm not even going to open that pandoras box
