Hello. My mustang is in the body shop right now getting the whole treatment done ... and I've decided to have the door handles shaved and the drip rails removed.

For the door handles, for the poor boy approach, I'm gonna reposition the interior door handle so I can open from the small window. But longer term I want to install door poppers. Anyone gone through this process and have any suggestions? The local radio install place will do it for $350 labor + kit. I think that is way steep ... but maybe I'm out of my mind. I thought I'd be able to position the hardware inside the door. Mount it in there and then run a hot wire. Am I nuts?

Thanks

without an outside handle, and driprails shaved, you are going to be screwed in the case of a surprise downpour... you will want to carry a waterproof cover all the time. on the subject of poppers, you can go two routes... a remote fob, or switches hidden outside the car (most old school rodders mount them under the rockers) with the switch, you just casually slide your foot under the car, and pop it with your toe.do a search, and see what you can find, its not all that hard to rig, basically a solenoid that takes the place of the outside handle...

I hooked mine up to my alarm in a series of relays. I mounted my popper in the door just above the latch mechanism. Ran a wire with a van door switch in the jam and up to the relays hooked to the alarm. Pretty simple. Or you can get a door popper kit for a couple hundred bucks and install it your self.
