Door Skin.....

I have some rust in the lower front corner of the passenger side door. The area is about 6" X 6". Question is, would it be better to replace the entire door skin or just the rusted corner? On one hand I hate to trash good original steel but on the other is it better to replace the entire skin?

Replacing the corner is a time-honored professional technique. If the rest of the skin is intact, you'll end up with less work, and a more original door.

the good thing about replacing the door skin is you can see if there is more rust that will cause problems later .you can sand blast the inner shell and epoxy prime then replace the skin and not have to worry about it rusting out somewhere else later on .you can bet if there is already a hole rotted there is going to be more rust
