I have a 2003 GT with facotry mach 460. Suddenly the bass from certain songs sounds horrible coming from both the pass and drivers lower door speakers. I find it hard to believe both speakers blew at the same exact time but what else could it be. Could one amp not be turned on or blown. Most songs sound fine but songs with lots of quick hard bass hits, i get there reverberation (spelling?) or vibration which basically sounds like trying to play bass on a crappy 4 dollar cardboard speaker. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem where bass sounded crappy coming from my mach 460 system. I dynamatted the door and I was impressed on how much it cleaned up the sound quality and dampened road noise. Bass hits cleaner and sound is louder. Dunno if this helps.

If it sounds good on some songs then sounds bad on a sond with a lot of bass I would think that the amp and speakers arent blown. if they were it should sound bad on all songs. Maybe turn down the bass when playing those songs?

thanks for the input guys. I wish it was just a matter of turning down the bass but i've tried that. Turning it up or down doesnt make it better or worse. It is true that anything other than a rap song sounds fine so thats where i get confused. Is it possible that the bass in these new songs is so different that the speakers just cant handle it. It likes the speaker doesnt have enough time to recover from one bass hit before the next one comes.

That almost sounds like your Mach 460 might be biased towards rap music! I have my bass set right at the middle and don't really get any problems with playing rap music, especially hard thumping songs. But then again, I rely on my subwoofer for bass. You still have the stock 460 unit correct?

yea door speaks in my 91 sounded like hell, so i just took em out. if you really want em to sound good in the door. get a special made box for the speaks. so that way the viberations arent bouncing off your door paneling and whatnot..

thats too much work and will very hard to completely seal, if it leaks air, whats the point???Just replace them at that point.
