Hey, what's up!? Well, I've got a question here. First of all, my car's a '90 LX Convertible. Since it was a 4 cylinder, it doesn't have speakers on the doors, just on the back and on the dash. Do you know if there's some wiring in the doors in order to just put some speakers there (plug & play )? If not, how can I install 'em? Damn I know nothing 'bout sound systems.

Anyways, thanks you very much for you help!

Probably not, you will have to run wiring to the doors and build speaker pods to add door speakers.

What is wrong with the dash speakers?

I agree, there would not be any wiring in the doors for that if it didnt come with speakers in the doors from the factory. Dash speakers are fine, if you upgrade them to a nice set like infinity kappas, they should sound just as good as door speakers.

Thanks for your replies guys! There's nothing wrong with my dash speakers. In fact all my stock sound system sounds pretty good if you ask me. The thing is that I was thinking on upgrading the 4 speakers I have and adding two more to the doors. Of course I'm in the process of changing my deck. So, if I get some Infinitys for the dash and the rear, will it be ok? I mean, will it sound ok?

Yeah, upgrade the stock speakers to some IK's. If you are going to change the head unit also, add a small 4 channel amp that way you can have some good clean volume at any level.

My car is a 91 GT. It didn't come with door speakers either. The grilles were there but behind the door panel was the vapor barrier covering the hole. After I looked I saw the wiring for the door speakers.

Old thread. Yeah they will hook right up, you might have problems, even though I hooked them up like factory I had problems, the dash speakers are wired with the door speakers. I ran new wire from the stereo to the doors, no problems since.

Yes just dig around in through the speaker opening and you'll find the factory connector taped to another wire lead. You can get the adaptors but it seems silly to me to spend good money on something that is designed to allow you to re-install the factory speakers, when you don't have any to re-install.
