My drivers side door won't lock at all. When you look at the pin on the drivers side it looks like the door is locked but its not? The passenger side works good by hand but refuses to work by power. The drivers side won't work at all. I tried pushing the pin down and up and it won't budge. When I put the key in the door and try to turn it to lock the pin tries to go down but seems like its already down WTF is up with it? I've never heard of a lock that doesn't lock lol

Its your door lock actuator. Probably get one real cheap from a junkyard.

That would cause it not to work at all?... I thought that was only related to it not working with power? If thats it I might just buy a new one and never look back.

--50resto has 2 actuators, 24 door clips and 2 rivets for doing the whole job for only like 60 bones... so if someone can confirm that i'm buying new ones. I can't not lock my doors lol

When the actuator freezes, it can keep you from being able to manually lock or unlock the door.
If needing new actuators, see JRichker's retrofit. It works very well and costs a small fraction of what new Motormite actuators cost.

Good luck.

I haven't had tried JRichkers'solution yet because I haven't had one go bad lately, but I'm sure it works awesome.

I found one locally at O'Reilly Auto Parts made my dorman/motormite/help products that has worked well so far, I think it was like around $60.

Lots of threads on the door lock actuator swap, here is a link to a nicely detailed how-to http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/downloads/instructions/LRS-21842.pdf

Follow this link to fix your door lock actuator problems http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/r/lrichker/Mustang_tech/door_actuator_fix/1_of_8_door_actuator.htm

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $4. Fix one side for $17, do both sides for only $23. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.
