Is there any clearance issues when putting a double timing chain on my 66 289. I'm changing the cam and was going to get a double timing chain set for it. I amy going with an edelbrock cam so should I get a edelbrock timing chain or is there a better and cheaper place to get a double?

Thanks
Brad

Edelbrock Timing chains are made by Cloyes.

I have a cloyes double roller and it works just fine.

I bought a double roller edelbrock from summit.

I had to have my harmonic balancer machined down a bit because the pulleys were not lining up after the swap..

the only clearance problem with double roller chains in a 289 would be with the hipo 289. the ad on counter weight rubs against the chain. otherwise there are no clearance issues that i know of.

Not necessarily a 289, but on my 351w buildup i went with a true roller dual timing chain from compcams and i had clearance issues between the fuel pump eccentric and the timing cover. Needless to say i found the problem before the motor was installed. All these shavings were from turning the motor over by hand Pics are below
