I was just curious how secure the hood scoops on 01+ GTs are? I was driving on I-70 the other day and got up to about 125mph. At one point it seemed like my hood scoop was about ready to fly off.
Also, I was curious how fast can a stock GT go before you start getting effected by a lack of downforce. I removed my rear spoiler so I dont even have what little down force I might have had. Any input would be appriciated.

the wing doesn't add downforce, but it does create drag

As for the spoiler question I'm not a 100% but I do know the spoilers on most cars nowadays(non-exotic) are more for looks than for creating downforce. I've had my car above 125 with the spoiler off and noticed no difference at all in traction for the rear. I do know I'm getting a better trap speed at the track with it off but that may be due to other modifications I made between those runs.

As for the scoop question on the 01 + not 100% of the number of bolts that hold it down... but if you pull off the material under your hood you'll see how many bolts hold it down. I remember someone saying it was 4 or 6 bolts on the 01+ scoops which were of larger design than the 99 35th anniversary's and spring editions. On my car it had 2 bolts and a crapload of silicone holding both the insert and hoodscoop in place. The 2 bolts are pretty secure and the silicone was more than enough to seal the scoop to the hood.

There are 7 bolts holding the hood scoop on my 2003 GT.
