What gears does everyone downshift to (at given speeds) when getting on it on the highway?

40MPH?

60MPH?

75MPH?


This is assuming you have the stock 3.55 gear, and a 5-speed GT.

40, second gear i think. 60 and 75 would be 3rd gear. this all depends on the intent after shifting into that gear.

I agree. Downshifting into 4th @ 75mph doesn't put you into the needed rpm range to really get on it. If you are just wanting to pass then 4th works okay.

Hell, I've shifted into 3rd at 80mph.

2nd I would say somewhere around 40mph should work.

i dont down shift anymore if i dont have to, i have that intermittant "bucking" problem and too lazy to take it in for the fuel pump TSB.

Matching revs is when you downshift while blipping the throttle to match your road speed with engine speed. so that the downshift is smooth and sweet. Hardly no wear on the clutch when the car is downshifted properly.
