I have question about drive shaft length. My drive shaft goes in to the TKO 600 about 6". I have to pull it back about 2"- 2 1/4" to connect it to the pumpkin leaving about 3 3/4"-4" in the trans. Is that enough, or is that not enough?

Ideally, you should only pull it out about 1". If it has too much play you will have vibrations and wipe out the tailshaft bushing quickly.

I was told by the local company that made the driveshaft, that since it has the 6" long TKO input yoke, that pulling it out 2" was "OK".

I was not convinced with his statement. And 2" seems to like a lot. Just wondered if anybody else knew for sure.

the guy that shortened mine told me the same thing... 6" yoke, give yourself 2"... these people do semi truck drivetrains , he said he shortened 7 the day he did mine.

I just talked to 2 other drivetrain specialists. They both told me 1 - 1 1/2" is best. Not any shorter. So I am returning the short driveshaft and hopefully getting the longer one about the time I finish the radiator!
