They will allow you to move around if you are faster than the rest of the group. Sometimes group 4 is faster than group 3 because everyone thinks that they can run fast and enter group 3 and group 4 is less crowded.

People are told to let faster cars pass and there are flags to tell the driver to pull to the right lane to allow the faster cars to pass. Faster does not mean faster on the straights, it is who is faster in the turns. If the Del Sol is faster in the curves, the fast straight away people are suppose to lift on the straight to allow the Del Sol to pass, after the next turn the Del Sol would be out of reach.

When I first got my 94, I put on my suspension and brakes for the first year. I felt like I had to lowest HP car out there. But I was running over everyone in the curves (BTW I have been doing this for years now) so the fast cars would have to idle for half the straight in order for me to get around them. Half way through the turn 1, I was gone.

Key to taking your car back home in one piece (I have seen some not make it), start slow and build up your ability. Do not overdrive you or your car. I have seen a new C5 and a new 350Z not make it because of driver error.

Thanks for covering some of the basics and the insight into these kinds of club events.

The Del Sol and Saturn references are inside jokes for the people who attended the TC training last month. These cars were driven by 60+ year old women that had never been to the track before. I forgot to include the old woman in the Z3 that came to a complete stop in the braking zone going into the chicane. My point was I didn't want to get stuck in this situation again. I don’t want to hold anyone else up either. I’d rather have the fast cars in front of me. These women may have been too scared to pay attention to the mirrors and give us the ok to pass wave. A few situations (braking zones) could have become dangerous if they were not with an instructor.

They didn't bother me......

So, is this a go? I know the deadline is Friday. But, I'm REALLY curious.

It looks as this is a go. Sounds like they have enough people now. I talked to their club member who runs this tonight.

I am signed up and ready to go.

Brian - you are already on the list of who is going on their site.

As of last night, the list is up to 38. Ideally it will get right to 42 and stop .

Yup, and the page says the track day is on. Good deal. Now if we can just get some sun. I'd settle for dry pavement.

D@mn. I hope it stops there. I don't want too much traffic....

I'm in group 3. My seat belts work fine and the 03 Mach 1 is a coupe (no roll bar required). So, I need a helmet, long sleeve shirt and pants, and gloves. Right?

I'm also going to bring, window cleaner, blue painter's tape, water, pressure guage, and torque wrench.

What else?

It's up to 57 total. Group 3 is the biggest with 21. Maybe if it gets big enough they'll split it into two run groups.

Sounds about right. Long sleeve shirt & pants (cotton or wool required -- no synthetics), and gloves. I still haven't made a decision on gloves, I'll probably just snag a pair of the Simpson ones.

I'm also going to bring, window cleaner, blue painter's tape, water, pressure guage, and torque wrench.

Well, from my notes after the TC day...

1. Glass cleaner & paper towels
2. A couple of rolls of blue painter's tape
3. Lots of drinking water
4. Cooler & ice to keep the water cold
5. Sunscreen & hat
6. Portable chairs
7. Tire pressure guage
8. Chalk

There should have been a ceiling. Get the minimum and then set a limit for each run group's size. BTW, it's up to 70 now!!
