The drivers seat back is not latching on the right side, you sit all crooked because the back of the seat is not latching and pushes back farther than the left side.
How much trouble is it to get into the is mech. and fix the problem, is this a common issue?

Metal frame for the back is probably broken. Look just above the pins on the leaning side or sit in back seat and pull the back towards you and look for upholstery to bunch up. Sometimes it's one of the legs that bolt to the floor, thats an easier fix. Sport seats? I got a collection of seats for parts.
Yep. The seat back breaks and it is a common problem. Sometimes you can remove the upholstery and foam and weld the broken part. Sometimes it's broken beyond repair.
