Ok so I hear the driveshaft needs to be updated with gears. Who makes one that is the right size for the 2001 Cobras? I don't want to screw anything else up.

I don't have the gears yet but would like to get the shaft done in anticiaption for it. It will reduce some vibration and mass for now anyways.

So who has them and what is a good price on one. Whats the install going to run me roughly and anything else I should get done while its being installed...new bushings of some sort?

Thanks.

p.s. who makes a good driveshaft loop that is not going to require me to chop up my underside just to install it.

I have never heard of having to change driveshafts at the same time you change gears.

Yeah, you don't *have to* swap out the driveshaft. But, it's a very common upgrade (switching to the lighter aluminum shaft).

BTW - Since you have an IRS equipped cobra, you might want to bookmark & read through the following site just in case (LoPony's drivetrain vibration page):

I have heard the FMS shaft is resonably priced but needs to be modified a bit-1.5"s I think? Others have used the 98 Cobra shaft and modified it as well...

Find a reputatble shop that can make and balance a custom driveshaft.
That's what Alternative Auto did for my car.
I've had 4.10's in the IRS, now 4.30's in the solid...no vibe at all.

Is the DS from STEEDA a good choice? Its 175 on their site.

Will it fit without being modified or does it need some retro fitting?

Also how is their drive shaft loop...any others that are better?

Another consideration of mine was the tranny cooler...should I get one?

I just got mine in from Steve at Houston Performance www.houstonperformance.com

It was $166 shipped and cheapest I could find anywhere. Might wanna give him a call to see if he has any others in. He didnt think he had any in when I called, but found 1 in his warehouse, he may have some more though. Tell him Aaron sent ya

Anyway, I havent heard of anything needing to be modified to make it fit, but I will find out this weekend.

On edit: I guess due to the IRS, you do have to modify it somehow. Im glad I have a GT

Good luck.
