I only wear "driving" type shoes anyway. I work at a gokart track so pretty much everyone is setup that way as far as shoes go hah. I usually wear my addidas/goodyears, pumas, or when actually required my fireproof simpsons.

yes i have 3 pairs of shoes i wear on a regular basis. i also have Puma FIA legal driving gloves. when i go to the track i have Puma Nomex gear. i refuse to drive a car without driving shoes on. i will actually bring my shoes alogn and change them in the car. i have to wear steel toe at work and i will change them out when i go to lunch.

Just driving, no fancy stuff? It's all the same to me.

But try to double clutch in some really nice dress shoes. Its not hard, but you got to pay attention or one of your feet will eventually slip off something. Could be ugly if it's the brake. I'm always up for a challenge though

Double clutching can be tricky with big work boots too. The thick soles don't always lift up as high as you think to get on the other pedal.

I can drive in anything, but the timberlands are kinda difficult. Barefoot is nice every once in a while if I have sandals on, but those damn pedals get soooo cold from the a/c. Anyone with the bullitt pedals ever slip off the brake?? I hate the pedals for that reason and have almost rear ended a car or two because of it , but they do look sick.

ive learned to drive in all my shoes.. like right now im wearing a pair of big bulky leather dress shoes... but i normally wear a pair of Addidas Chicane, the Goodyear ones w/ suede, that have carbon fiber in the soles...

btw i wear a 13 so its always been intresting but i can heel-toes fairly easily

Double clutching in your mustang? Double clutching isn't needed (and is infact bad for) synchro transmissions.

How so? Double-clutching, done properly, simply does the synchro's work for them. Makes for a lot smoother downshifts, and is fun as hell.

Of course it isn't needed, but neither are manual transmissions, clutches, or V8 engines. If I was of that mindset, I'd have a moped instead of a mustang. Taking away double clutching takes away half of the fun of driving a stick (the other half being, or course, powershifting ).

I can drive in any shoes, but definitely prefer my Chuck Taylor's.

Yeah I guess - I guess I've just never been in a car with anybody double clutching where they didn't ride the clutch so much it smelled.

For fun? And smoother downshifts?

Only doing it on downshifts.

What do yall do? Just stick it in the gear and let out the clutch? That just feels wrong... unless I guess if you wait forever and a day for the speed of the car to get low enough that it doesn't jerk backwards or something. But then you miss out on all the fun loud engine revving.

I rev-match on the downshifts.

I kick the clutch in, shift 1 gear lower, blip the throttle up 1000RPM or so and let out the clutch.

After some practice, the only way you would know I downshifted is by the sound of the engine. It only takes a split second to do as well.

Same idea as double-clutching, but faster

I used to do that. I found that double-clutching was easier and faster once you get used to it. No awkward lurching if you rev too high/too low.
