Hey guys during my Pro 5.0 install I managed to drop a wrench down the shifter hole! Is it putting my car in any danger if I dont find it? Or is it most likey on the ground? My car is in about 6 inches of snow and its dark so I cant tell

Are you talking about the place where the shifter mounts to the tranny?
If so then you better find the wrench asap, If you managed to get a wrench into the tranny from there than you better tear you tranny completely apart until you find the wrench went....Good Luck

Ok, like I said it was dark, I guess I'll find that wrench when I drive it out and the snow has thawed.
Na guys I dropped in on the tranny casing. Its either layed up somewhere or on the ground :shrugs: I just wanted to make sure my car wasnt in danger if that wrench never surfaces.
If it's on the tranny casing it's fine. I've lost tons of sockets that get stuck on the little lip on the K-member. Once in a while when i do oil changes i still find a couple stuck up there

ya you could just use a pen magnet if you cant reach it i have one they come in handy for dropped wrench's that you cant reach(got one stuck between my radiator)

right on they work, they also have a flexable wire thing (lol sorry so vague) but you squeeze one end and it works like a claw (3 little claws) to grab stuff but it goes just about anywhere maybe sears or autozone might have em. Good luck

When I removed my shifter, there was nowhere that I can see a wrench going. It was just a hole with a bottom, you can't see the gears or anything. More than likely it's on the ground, as it can't get "inside" the tranny. If it did fall into the hole, it'd be right there staring you in the face.
LOL the hole in the interior! Not the trans, I was just worried that it would fool with something on the trans while driving if it was hung up some where. Its all good - even if I dont find that crapsman whench

Nah, it probably fell to the ground, but the worst it could do is rattle under there till it falls out.

yeah there isnt anyway for a wrench to get into the gear box via the shifter housing for those that have worked with the t5's, if its not in the small housing, it is on the ground =) lol pretty funny read

most likely it's on the ground. it won't hurt anything being stuck somewhere unless you're driving down the highway and it falls out and hits someones windshield.
i lost a socket bolt while installing my long tubes one time. i thought the darn thing fell into the starter hole into the bell housing, because it didn't fall to the ground. that drove me crazy for hours. i finally found it. darn thing fell where all the primary tubes join the collector and stuck in there.

ya i had that problem with a open-end wrench while installing my long tubes. drove me nuts forever didnt hear it hit the ground.gave up found it later on the ledge of the A-arm stuck there.
