When dropping the tranny, is it necessary to unbolt the mid pipe? because we have taken off all the bolts to the bellhousing....and the sucker just wont come off. Is there a secret to unattaching the transmission from the engine?

I take the midpipe off, take the scatter shield off, take the bellhousing/starter bolts out. Jack up the front of the engine a little bit (carefully). and kind of turn it side to side and pull. It eventually comes out lol

Dude...your PI HP numbers and TQ is exactly the same as my 81 notch that has a 4.6L 2V motor in it. I thought that was interesting. :nice:

There are two bolts on top of the bellhousing that need to be removed. You need a wobble socket and a long entension to get them out. You can lower the rear of the transmission to help you see them. The instructions miss them.
