Drove my new 347 stroker 1500 miles!

Well I just drove from Seattle to Phoenix over the weekend in my 94 Mustang. I've spent over 6 months building the 347 stroker that's in it. To those who say that 347's burn oil, you're wrong! It ran really well, didn't burn a drop of oil. Too well actually... I got a speeding ticket in northern California.

The only problem I had was with engine heat. I think in my rush to get it ready to drive back to school, I put the thermostat in backwards! But that's a pretty easy fix, so tonight I'm going to check that out. Driving from Los Angeles to Phoenix through the desert with the heat blasting out of the vents is NOT fun.

Here are the specs for anyone who is interested: Forged Eagle rotating assembly, forged SRP pistons, Canton 7 quart T-sump oil pan with windage tray and main girdle, high volume oil pump, Trick Flow High Port heads, Track Heat intake, "custom" Anderson N-412 camshaft, 1.7 Trick Flow roller rockers, 70mm Edelbrock throttle body, 80mm Pro-M MAS, BBK equal length shorty headers, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

The car has the stock H-pipe with cats and stock catback until I pass an emissions test in AZ, then I'll be installing an off-road X-pipe and probably some flowmasters. Anyone know anything about AZ emissions testing? Anyone I can slip a little cash to that will pass me? Well sorry for the long post, just wanted to say that 347's kick ass, and that was one hell of a drive.

Edit: I forgot, 30lbs injectors, Mallory fuel rails and AFPR, 255lph fuel pump.

Congrats on a good trip, except for the ticket.
Did your 347 kit have the oil ring in the wrist pin? The old kits had the oil ring in the wrist pin, the reason for oil comsumption. That is the reason people have said the 347's have\had oil comsumption issures, which have been corrected on most kits, I believe.

hope u can pass emissions with that beast. thats the worst thing, to have a brand new stroker and not being able to pass the sniffer. good luck with that. take it to the track and let us know. got any pics?

Yeah I'm pretty nervous about the emissions crap. I don't see why the car wouldn't be running pretty clean though, especially when I get done tuning it with the twEECer. I can take some pics tonight or tomorrow, after I wash it. On the drive down I put a significant dent in America's insect population so it's not looking very pretty right now. My Mustang is teal with grey cloth interior. It has the stock pony wheels on it right now, but I have some 17" Torq-thrust II's in Seattle. My dad thought it was a bad idea to put the rims on before I get a good alarm(Phoenix has the highest rate of stolen vehicles out of any major city in the US). So it'll be just over a month before I'm in Seattle again to put them on.
