Can someone provide or point me in the right direction for finding a comprehensive list of DTC codes??

We own a 2001 Mustang GT.

Just got an SCT scanner, so I'd like to be prepared...

Off topic:: When I perform a search within this and other forums for the string 'dtc' I get no hits. I tried other searches and still nothing. Anyone have ANY idea why this search engine is behaving this way for me.

Look here is a list of some Ford-specific OBD-II codes. Answers to generic or specific codes are just a google check away...

Trinity_gt got you covered on the codes, but in general, this and a lot of boards ignore searche terms with 3 or less characters in them - huge drain on the board's database and search engine because the number of entries that have to be stored and searched through goes up astronomically.

A trick that everyone needs to know about to get around that limitation, and to find older threads that may not show up in search anymore is to use Google's "site" command. Type in the search box "site:the-site-I'm-trying-to-search.com stuff-I'm-searching-for"

So if your's looking for threads about DTCs here on the StangNet forums, it would look like this:

site:stangnet.com/mustang-forums DTC

The URL here used to be forums.stangnet.com so searching that may turn up even more threads if the board software didn't offer those older threads up to be crawled by Google when it changed. At the least it gives different results

site:forums.stangnet.com DTC

you can get fancy and search for threads that contain "DTC", "CEL" or "OBD" too:

site:stangnet.com/mustang-forums cel OR obd OR dtc

Goolge works much better than most boards built-in search for finding multiple terms, and is not subject to annoying waiting periods before you can search again and can usually be used to search boards that have disabled their built-in search due to performance issues as well.

Get Ford service CD off ebay

For less than $25 you can get the complete Ford service manual on CD off of ebay. Included will be all DTC codes, wiring diagrams, and work shop manual.

Often the DTC does not really tell what is wrong. The work shop manual will give pinpoint tests that narrow down problems in a logical way. The manual will also give full specifications for torque and capacities.

A true bargin. Will make you smarter than staying at a Holiday Inn.

You know... I have the hard copy shop manuals (volumes I & II)... and admittedly, it can be a bitch to find what I'm looking for even with the an index. These two books stacked is around 5-6".

An electronic copy would be brilliant when you consider the search capabilities.

Really a great idea for a cheap price... so I'm in the market now.

Many thanks for helping me part with my money. <wink>
