my sister has a 93 4 cylinder. She wants the dual exhaust look, so I was thinkin that when i put my new exhaust on, if my old stock pipes would fit on her car(after the y-pipe, of course). always lookin to save money!

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Especially with the 7.5 rear end in the 2.3, there's actually more room under there.

how exactly is the exhaust laid out on the 2.3? does the y-pipe come after the cat?
do you think i can do this w/out any welding?(provided that I don't cut the pipes when I remove them)

I think the "Y" pipe comes after the Cat. When you go to do this just keep in mind where the fuel lines, fuel pump, and filter are located

Yes the 'y' is after the cat, you could probably use a TurboCoupe 'y' pipe if you don't want to have one fabricated. You will have to re-locate the rear brake line from the body to the axle though, it runs right where the right hand pipe will go.

what does relocating the brake line require? meaning, are there simple clamps, or is it a major pita?

I think what was meant is that you need to extend the rubber line, that goes from the body frame rail to the axle, about 3-4 inches and make it a braided steel brake hose. This will enable you to loop the line away from the exhaust and give you a bit more clearance. I had this done on my dual exhaust install. I'll try to post a couple of pics.

you dont need anything added to the line to relocate, just move it outta the way and secure it wherever you can so it wont move around too much... i just used some pop rivets and clamps to hold mine in place (this is of course after i pulled a little too much on it and broke the line, which then meant it had become a major PITA.)

that being said, the Ypipe from a kit wont fit your car correctly, you have to modify it. I got the SVO y-pipe as part of a dynomax kit and when i went to hook it up it fit about as well as the pic in that link shows it, seriously . I got some 2 1/4 extensions that i am going to try this week sometime to see if i can extend the y pipes long enough to reach the muffler that way, if not Ill have to go to a shop with a tube bender and welding equipment so they can make it work.

as far as the tailpipes go you should be good there (hangers may be slightly different, but you can make that work easily)

I didn't even have to relocate my brake line, the exhaust guy said my setup fit unusually well though.

Sure Mat I think it would look and sound great you should just
replace the whole catback with a Flowmaster two chamber
catback.I know your sister would like that!
