I bought my GT used, and the previous owner (who I will never know) has apparently done some mods, since I think I have a CAI installed (probably a MAC). I'm thinking about a catback, but I'm not sure if what's on my car is stock, or some kind of no-name aftermarket thing.

It's got a good bit of rust on it, so I know it's not stainless or anything like that.

I guess my first question is: Does the stock exhaust system have an H pipe on it? This one appears to. And if I replace it with, say, the Steeda stainless catback system, what change will it probably make in the sound?

The stock pipes look rusty its normal, every mustang i've seen with stock catbacks are rusted up, Mustangs come with stock H pipes with 4 cats, true dual exhaust.

Ask, and ye shall receive:

From the front of the car:

From the back:

And here's the driver's side muffler. Looks like I might have a little hole in it. Good thing I'm relplacing it, right?

Ahhh...and I think I just answered my own question. Here's the underside of the muffler:

Your exhaust is completely stock.

I do know that my 1998 GT came with 6 cats on the stock H pipe.

Yep, she's stock. Oh, and the little hole on the bottom edge is there to let out any moisture from condensation.

Okay, I get the hint. Here's a basic, overall shot.

I've got a Cobra chin spoiler and a Steeda Tri-Ax on order.

I'm not sure about "soon," but that's on the list.
