Those who have, have either left the board, or converted the car back to FI. The cost of converting the car to a carb is outrageous, and I don't believe that on a 302, a carb will make anymore power.

If your tuner says so, he probably doesn't know what he's doing.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the winning drivers in Pure Street are FI.

auto makers switched to FI for a reason....cuz its better...its more than just getting rid of the eec and adding a carb, and new pump...you need all new lines and the such....i really doubt you would make any more power...probably less imo....and i agree, anyone who said to switch to carb, is just saying so because they dont have the knowhow to properly tune the eec...

Plus it's a OBD version car which means various, sensors, modules and relays control most everything. Throwing a carb on our cars is just not that easy. Obviously it can be done though. Nunly94 did it and sold it shortly after. He like others before him had those unfixable bugs.

not to mention totally emisions illeagal to go backwards, as far as emmisions go....

I gave it thought myself. A carbed car will typically pull more top end(rpm range) then FI, but the FI should get it downlow. The FI is better all around, unless you really know what your doing with a carb/tuning it.

I may change to a carb down the road, once my car is basically track only, and maybe an occasional street drive, unless my FI settup works out fantastically.

Things that need to be changed to go carbed - Distributer, new fuel line (bigger), new carb fuel pump, sump the gas tank, wire up an ignition switch, buy a carb/lower intake of course, gut the wireing/computer out. When you weigh the cost of an all around good EFI settup (With chip or tuner device) versus doing a carb right, they are pretty damn close in cost. If you already have a complete aftermarket efi settup then you will lose serious money selling it and buying a new carbed settup.

Just so you guys know, when you pull the computer/harness out, the headlights and everything will still work. You do need an ignition switch, and something to trigger the fuel pump. I cant think of any other sensors/relays you would need?

Seeing a friend of a friends foxbody go 10.6's @127 n/a with a carbed 408 w/afr's had me thinking But i already have the full EFI settup, so i might as well give it a try.
