Dying a Vert Top?

Has anyone used one of the aeresol vinyl dyes on a convertible top? After painting (and my paint still looks less that perfect) the top just looks horrid (very dull/faded). Can I use one of these dyes or maybe some paint to make it look darker?

resurrecting an old thread but my question is the same.. i converted most of the interior from tan to black and the top is next.. i would just replace the top, but the last owner just put this new top in less than 5yrs ago and its still in excellent condition.. thanks for any ideas or input

well if ya are still interested i used dupli-color vinyl gloss black spray paint on my tan top. it looks flawless. and was very cheap.

How long ago did you do your top? Did it hold up to the top being put up & down? Any cracking or peeling? How do the edges & wear areas look?

I've been thinking about doing this also but I don't want to end up with a black top with a bunch of tan areas showing through.

got any pics? how many coats did u spray? ive heard stories of it turnin out a purplish color.. lol..
