Ok, I think you guys need to relax and give this guys a chance. I've seen this guy run his stang. I for 1 beleive what he's saying because he's far from a bull****er. I used to drive a 01 GT Convertible, and we used to race all the time. I can tell you that this guy is a good driver and he wouldn't lie about this stuff. Infact I would bet anything that stock for stock he'd beat most of you on the 1/4. He's an experienced driver, he's driven stangs since I've known him.

First of all his list of mods are good for his #'s

Prochambers are f***ing amazing. I used to run 14.1's all day until I got this peice. After getting this peice I ran a constant 13'8 ! You do the math !

SCT Tunning are by far the best out their right now. I see that most people calling BS on his case don't even have the SCT. I for 1 know that a good tune will be like night and day.

All I'm trying to say is try to understand why he's getting these #'s instead of calling BS when you don't even know the car or the guy.

Just my 2 cents.

Steeda,

Bill Putnam was pulling 12.5's with 260ish RWHP and 4.30's. The weight was dropped down some, but it was still a daily driver.

Before the major work, with all bolt ons: off road prochamber, pullies, K&N, M/A, T/B, Welded in Flowmasters, DYNO TUNED CHIP and 3.73's, I pulled 252/294 RW and ran a 13.29 with drag radials.

To me the numbers seem a lil off. I had full exhaust, pullies, t/a (15*), and my car put down 265 rwhp. Also, if your car is putting those rwhp numbers down, and you have someone on here backing up that you are a good driver, then something isnt adding up with your et trap mph. With 265rwhp (dynojet), on street tires, I was able to get 103-105 mph traps consistently. You should be at least trapping 103, but with the rwhp you were talking about I would think you should be trapping above 105. You have any other time slips?

there is a little check box in the mustang dyno that allows them to turn the real world load simulation off and this could be what causes the higher than expected numbers.

Definetly calling BS. Your showing about 20 more rwhp than your numbers should be at best. I would guess your car without any cats would dyno in the 240-242 range.

I don't mean to be an ass here. But seeing I gained 8.5WHP with the tune alone. What do you value the pullies and exaust at? 12WHP combined? What does a stock GT dyno at? 220WHP? For some reason I was under the impression most of them started in the 230WHP...

Last question, If ring in a 13.3 at a high 102MPH... what sorta WHP does that seem like?

Um dude im talking about the mods you made a list of above. Obviously with timing adjusted / tuning you will gain another 8-10 hp which would put you at about 250 hp. but no where near 270+

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but with the mods YOU listed, it's physically impossible to dyno 271 on a Mustang Dyno. Period.

Sorry bro, but someone fugged up. No offense.

Ok. Simple 2 questions.

1. What does a stock mustang usually dyno on a mustang dyno?
2. A 5spd coupe that runs a 13.3 @ 102MPH will have how much HP roughly ... a range, anything?
3. Does my Dyno tech need to take in account the 3.73 gears which don't give a direct 1:1 ratio in fourth?

SAE adjusted, the 271 converts to just over 260WHP... and I know with the mods I listed it is highly improbable.

My 5 speed coupe ran 13.29 with 3.73's and drag radials. That was with 252/294 STD at the wheels

YES, the gear ratio needs to be taken into account on the dyno. Correct me if I am wrong, but stock gears will not spool up as quickly as taller gears will. So if the car is pulling really hard and the dyno thinks it has stock gears, its going to post the wrong numbers. Just my guess on how that works, but I know for sure the gears need to be taken into account on the dyno.

My 01 dyno'd 187hp & 225tq when it only had a catback. That was on a Mustang dyno set at 3650lbs and 12hp at 50mph.

Last year when I first installed my blower I dynoed my car on both a dynojet and a MD in the same morning. 308hp on the MD and 370on a dynojet. Comes out to 20% difference. So my original pull of 187 would have been about 224hp on a dynojet. That would put you at 325hp on a dynojet, which is why everyone is saying "no way".

I think you got things backwards. Mustang dyno's read considerably LESS on the dyno. So being that its already ludicrous that you could put out 270 rwhp on a dynojet its twice as unbelievable that you could put out 270 with those few tiny mods on a mustang dyno.

1/4 mile times are not necessary directly correspondent to hp. There are alot of things to take into account mainly involved with suspension/weight transfer and traction. Just say my car runs x in the 1/4 mile gives no indication of rwhp. 3.73's will have a small NEGATIVE (not positive) affect on the dyno. All in all it looks like either the person that dynod your vehicle fudged the numbers to make you feel good or your just out and out lying. Not trying to accuse anyone of anything but thats about the only possibilities.

Yes!!! If he had you set for 3.27's and you have 3.73's. The whole thing will be right out to lunch.

I’ll probably take some shots for saying this but dynos are really a tuning tool not a “how big is my pecker” meter. LK’s numbers are high no doubt but of all the dynos out there the Mustang Dyno is the easiest to manipulate the numbers with. Not that I think he or anyone else would do this on purpose but if one parameter or setting is done incorrectly then it’s hard to compare numbers from one car to another unless it’s on the same dyno because there can be way too much variance.

I’ve known LK from other boards and he is not one to post up BS just for attention. His old car was fast and backed up the ETs with proof and I don’t doubt he’s truthful here. Best thing he can do is hit the track with the new power and see what it does.

I didn't know you 'set' anything for gearing on a dynomometer.

Your times are good, LK, for your mods. Your trap speed shows that you are not making 270rwhp, however. My guess would be in the 245-250rwhp range. Don't sweat it, you seem to have a handle on your car either way.
