Before anyone reads this entire post and is disappointed, I want to say this is not a "before and after" Thumper head installation comparison. The car's current mods are:

146k mile stock 1991 shortblock
Thumper E7s
Bennett custom cam (nitrous grind)
1.7RR's
Performer RPM intake
BBK 70mm TB/EGR
Pro-M 75mm Bullet
K&N panel filter (stock airbox)
24lb injectors
pulleys
255lph fuel pump
Kirban afpr
MSD 6AL
MSD Blaster 2 coil
MSD wires
BBK u/e shorty headers
o/r H-pipe
Dynomax mufflers
3.73s
NX shark nozzle wet kit

This is all in a 1991 LX hatch AOD car.
Bone stock down to the air filter and cats with 139k miles, this car put down 184.4rwhp corrected (I can't remember the torque).

With all the above mods the car made: (all numbers are corrected)
N/A
250.9 rwhp 332.7 ft/lbs (with nitrous tune - 10* timing, higher fuel pressure)
263.8 rwhp 328.1 ft/lbs (good N/A tune - 16* timing, correct fuel pressure)

NX 150 shot
393.0 rwhp 509.5 ft/lbs

NX 175 shot
428.3 rwhp 566.7 ft/lbs

The car is my full weight (nothing removed except the front sway bar) daily driver with the a/c still on it. With no changes other than a set of 26x8 MT ET Drags, the car went 11.65 @ 115.8mph on the 175 shot (any other 60' time from the night would have given me an 11.5x) and 11.87 @ 115.8mph on the 150 shot. I was told the NX kit wouldn't go higher than 150 shot. Since it worked on the dyno, I tried it. It gained over 1.5mph in the 1/8th, but trapped the same in the 1/4 after it fell on it's face from lack of nitrous flow. Overall, I'm pretty happy with 11s in my daily driven bolt-on car with ported E7s.

What a ride!!!

Thats rocking!! As the computer "tunes" it could get better!! and your rightThere isnt anything like a 11 sec dailey driver!!! :nice: :nice: :nice: :hail2: :hail2: :flag:

Eh... Canada ( blue is for COLD) we are just waiting on you!! eh?? Get that EM test out of the way... and your rocking 12s NA!!! :nice: :nice:

Good work!!

Just me..............................

very nice #'s.. and that's through an AOD. what converter are you running in it.. how high are you reving it and are you shifting manually with the 1-D-1 shuffle or on it's own.. let's here the details of your set up. can you give some detail on your cam or at least ball park lift, duration, LS. thanks.

Thanks for the info! Rio 5.0's 95 GT made 255RWHP and 311RWTQ with a stock intake opened to 65mm, my ported lower, long tubes, Steeda #19 cam and a 5 spd as the mods that are different from yours. Ballpark looks like you made ~15HP and 49 lb-ft(!!) more than Rio with your intake after correcting 15% to 20% for drive train losses. I'd love to see your dyno curve - can you post it?

Tom - help me understand the math comparison to Rio's numbers? I'm seeing 255/311 compared to 263/328; where's the 50 lb-ft gain?

255/.85 = 300HP, 263/.80 = 329 HP, 329-300 = 29HP so I did make a mistake there.

I used the 332 ft-lbs before but we'll use the 263HP TQ of 328

311/.85 = 366TQ, 328/.20 = 410, 410-366 = 44 lbs-ft

Just estimates.............

It's an Art Carr Extreme AOD with no manual valvebody or transbrake. I just stick it in "D" and floor it. It has a 3k stall convertor so I'm sure that may suck a little of the dyno numbers down. I launch from idle and flash the convertor. It shifts itself just short of the limiter. I think right around 6k but I have a stock tach and I don't trust it anyway.

I also forgot to list the car has Lakewood struts and shocks. This and tires are my only suspension mods. It still has stock UCAs, LCAs, no welded axle tubes or torque boxes. The car has been a 1.63 60' on a 12.30 @ 98mph pass when it ran out of gear with 4.10s. The car averages mid-1.6s. My 11.65 pass was a horrible 1.76 though. These Lakewoods are worth their weight in gold to me. Best bang for the buck I've spent. It does ride a little rougher though, but it's nothing I can't get over.

The Bennett cam is 218/224 @ .050, 112 lobe sep. and about all the lift you can get from a stock non-piston notched bottom end and stock valve size. It's not too big.

With the cam, the car actually responds better on the nitrous than most other Mustangs I've seen. N/A I made 5 passes all within .09. They were in the 13.4-13.5 range. But this was on the nitrous tune with it running rich and on 10* timing. So it might go a little quicker all out, but I leave it set like that so that's how I wanted to see it run. It loves the nitrous. The Bennett cam was probabyl my second best mod.

I don't have the stuff nor the computer knowledge if I did to post it. So I'll tell you about it.

N/A
The graph starts at ~3500rpm with the hp 220rwhp, peaks at 263.8 at ~5600rpm and holds it flat until the chart stops at 6100rpm.
The torque peaks where the graph starts at ~3500rpm with 328.1 ft/lbs and falls in a perfect diagonal line (no curve) to ~230 ft/lbs @ 6100rpm.

The N/A graph is actually pretty flat compared to about everything I've seen.

Nitrous
The graph starts at ~3800rpm with 566.7 ft/lbs and falls in a perfect line to ~320 ft/lbs at 6200rpm.
The hp starts ~420hp at 3900rpm and peaks at with 428.3rwhp at ~4100rpm (what the heck is that all about?) and falls to about 380rwhp at ~6200rpm. That's not a curve, that's a table top.

I know I know... :nonono:

Like I said Mike... bout the 2nd or 3rd week of April... i'll be contacting you!

BUT before the H/C/I go on.... I'm doing the following:
Some aftermarket ctrl arms, an air bag in the right rear [should I do two air bags??], some more weight removal [front bumper insert & pass front bucket], moving battery in the trunk, putting my MSD 6AL on... opeing up my gap to .060", [ran the 13.1 with only a .045" gap] and then I am going to take the car to the track one last time with the stock motor and upper/lower intakes, & H pipe... & if I have to, gonna pop the belt off on the last pass.... to see if I can better my current times.

With almost going 103 MPH [102.74] all I really need is a good 1.6 60' and i'm 12.90s I think. I hope that adding the MSD & the plugs at .060", and suspension work, weight removal, and battery reloacation, will be enough... without having to ditch the fan belt. I only need to knock off about 1 1/2 to 2 tenths and i'm solid 12.90s
