I am going to the dyno (finally) tomorrow or Thursday. Anyone want to do any pre-dyno guesses. My mods are:
9in K&N, C&L 76mm MAF/True-flow tube, 70mm TB/spacer, Typhoon intake, AFPR, 255lph, mildly ported and rebuilt E7s, with a 3 angle valve job, U/D pulleys, electric fan, MSD Digital 6, MSD wires, distributor and coil, A/C & smog delete, BBK shorty headers, O/R x-pipe and flowmasters + a 150 shot. What should I try to get my A/F ratio NA and with the spray? I’ll let you guys know how I do. I think the dyno is a DynoJet but not 100% sure.

I put this in tech beacuse I did ask a question

I agree, about 265 hp (NA). Are you going to have it tuned for the nitrous while your there. If so dont let them use the 150 jet on the first pull. start with the 75 jet and work your way up to the 150 with the tuner evaluating the tune each time. My buddy's car was done in on the dyno because the tuner asured him he could use the 150 jet on the first N20 pull to save time and money. It didnt do either, and the tuner only offered a free tune when the motor was fixed.

265rwhp, you guys are getting my hopes up . Thanks for the advice just4bob50. I have a digital 6 with a nitrous retard so I can keep the timing at 14* and when the nitrous it activated, the box will pull timing down to about 8* to start. The only thing changed other than timing are the plugs. I am using NGK UR6 gapped at .035. I was planning of using the 75 shot jets first and work my way up. Thanks guys keep the guesses coming. If it helps any, the nitrous is a wet kit and my FP is at 42 psi with the vac line unplugged.

Bad time at the dyno today. First they couldn’t get their dyno to work, after every pass the data would not transfer to the computer. They did about 8 passes trying to figure out the problem, it turned out to be a bad file or something like that. So after 3 hours of wasted time, the car was now nice and hot.

Second problem, their air/fuel ratio was not reading right. They did a test pull and the fuel ratio came in at 17:1 at 2,400 rpm and dropped to 15:1 at 4,600 rpm where they stopped the run. They had me crank the fuel pressure to 50 PSI (I had it at 40 PSI for the nitrous) to try and stabilize the a/f ratio. Finally they figured out it was not reading right and fixed it. So my only complete run at God knows how much fuel PSI, I made 241 HP and 282 TQ with a/f ratio that fell under 10:1. No nitrous runs, since I really didn’t trust them, I will just wait to go to my dad’s work and let them tune my car on their dyno. Sorry if it sounds like a bunch of ramble, but pretty tired mentally and physically.

The really sucks that they didn't know what they were doing when you got there... seems like such a waste of some hard earned cash. Better luck next time and I am sure your combo is worth more than what they reported

I was actually happy with the 241 under the conditions I made it under. My a/f ratio off the cart, 12* of timing, 2 heat range colder plugs gapped at .035 and the weather was hot and very humid.

glad to see you had enough sense to get away from those chuckleheads. you know if something would have broke they would have blamed you or the car.

That does seem low for your combo. I guess the humidity really kills HP, plus it doesn't help it being 90*+ outside.

Well I will be testing again tommorow at 3 at my dad's work, hopefully I will do a little better.

when i had my car tuned it was 92 deg out and the humididty was very high. still made 264hp and 300tq on a Mustang Dyno. I was out beating the car the other night and it was a cool 68 degs out and i couldnt believe how good the car ran. I wish i knew what the power difference was between 92 and 68 deg.

Ok got my dad to run the car on the dyno. On motor alone, I made 251 hp and 289 tq with the a/f ratio rich. The dyno at MSD is outside and a storm was brewing so I did not try to improve n/a power. On a 75 shot I made 318 h.p. and 393 t.q with an a/f ratio of 11.5 to 1. with 10* initial timing and the bottle pressure at 925 PSI. The a/f ratio might have been richer, but for some reason the a/f ratio was not reading lower than 11.5 to 1. I tried the 100 shot jets, but I only gained 2 more horsepower but I did break 400 t.q at the wheels. The guys at the dyno were saying that maybe the a/f ratio went way rich and killed the power? I tried the 75 shot again and it cranked out 312 h.p. with a little less t.q. than before, but the motor was getting hot, since I was not letting it cold down after a run(stupid storm). I tried the 75 shot again with the bottle pressure at 975 with the initial timing at 12* and the fuel pressure at 44 PSI previously at 46. Still rich and made a few less H.P. I am over all happy with the 75 shot and the power it made with minimal mods in the weather and elevation it did it in. I can’t wait till I can make it to the track.
