E-bay intercooler piping?

Just wundering what you guys think about the intercooler pipe kits that are found on E-bay? Iam asking because Iam hoping to put my vortech on in a few months and would like to add a intercooler. It looks like I can do it for less than $400 with a icevex intercooler from superchargersonline. And no i dont want to use a E-bay intercooler mainley because most of them are only rated to around 350hp and I dont like using no-name parts that are important. Please if anyone has first hand experience please chime in. thanks.

I bought a piping kit on ebay - not specific to mustang but just some straights, 90's, 75's, 45's, etc... I used an ebay core too..the pressure drop on it is kinda crappy though, went from 10.5-11psi to with 3.33" pulley to 7.5-8psi after the intercooler :nonono: I had a big writeup thread on my intercooler experience

some people dont want to cut up the crash bar.

i cut mine and i used an ebay IC the first time also. the pressure drop is terrible. the last time i redid my setup i went to a treadstone IC. it is a better IC with less of a drop.

anyways i have used ebay piping kits both times with no problems. i did get beads welded on the last one b/c i kept blowing the piping apart. i would get some better couplings and t bolt clamps

they work well for the price.. i recomend after you get all of it fabd up that you take it somewhere and have it beadrolled so you wont blow em apart.. a diesel shop around here beadrolled all of my IC piping ends for $15

Thanks. but why didnt you mount the intercooler behind the bumper support?

I wanted to fully expose the core to the air stream - rather than just half exposed. I cut the foam insert in such a way that it acts like a shroud to push the air into the IC. Also, I didn't want to move the power steering cooler lines, or have them directly sandwiched against the IC. ALSO when mounting the IC behind the crash bar you're going to be putting it closer to the radiator which is going to significantly decrease the effectiveness - while also soaking the intercooler with its radiant heat. Might not be such a big deal on the street, but for open track reasons it seems valid.

Probably a smaller, more expensive core would make more power while being more efficient. I might switch cores if it bugs me enough later  :nice:

Well I used a ebay ic and piping before most, almost 2 years ago. The pressure drop is a little much. But at the same time the iats where incredible low.

There's a kit on ebay now that is made for the new edge mustangs. It has bead rolled pipes better clamps and couplers with a similar intercooler. It's also cheaper than I did mine for.
