e cam help needed

How driveable was the e cam after it was put in w/ out a tune. And did anybody elses make a loud ass ticking noise.

My cousin has an 88 T-Top gt running a F cam, FRPP Mass air conversion, Long tubes, GT-40 Intake, Underdrive pulleys, Flowmaster Am Thunder exhaust, 4.10 gears, and ET streets, and ran a 12.97 this year at Fun Ford at Norwalk, and gets 20MPG on the highway with no tune. I'm guessing that the FRPP ECM that came with the kit is similar to an A9L in an 89, or at least thats what I've read. I'm getting ready to do an E cam, and Explorer intake in my SN95 so I guess we'll see soon enough.

i drive mine everyday w/out a tune. its not supposed to be making a loud ticking.

Mines missing alot to say the least. I'm pretty sure its the distributor cap. The car itself misses and backfires through the intake. Ive tried adjusting the timing but it doesnt seem to work. Right now its on 87 gas but i thought it would only affect it at high rpm's. Oh yeah the battery light blinks and the idle drops about 100 rpms whenever i turn the headlights on.
