I was getting ready to put new sparkies in and noticed this in the picture. A small silver rod hanging down that seems like it should be connected to something behind the engine as the one on the opposite side is connected to a lever of some kind. What is this for? It mustn't be too important as I haven't noticed any weird issues lately.

It's an 03 V6 btw. Forgot to mention that.

I figured out that it was the intake manifold runner control valve....in case anyone else searches for this in 4 years from now...lol
