Now I dont usually do much on ebay but I needed to get a laptop for MS and EFI live. Didn't need to be a great brand new laptop just something to get me by, so I went on ebay and bought a T60 IBM from seller "compsuccess". I received the laptop in a somewhat timely manner. Open the box, laptop looks good. Turn it on, good. Everything seems fine. So I try to do a little typing and half the damn buttons don't work. So clearly I am not very happy but I keep my cool and call the company and talk to someone. Guy tried to say it happened in shipping, something must have loosened up(yeah right) and tells me to send it back and he will get it fixed and sent right back out to me. Also says I will have the laptop back in exactly one week for sure. So I do that. A few days later I get a call from fedex asking me what was wrong with the computer, I explained and we both determined that it had nothing to do with the shipping. The box was in perfect condition when it got to me. So needless to say Fedex sends the box back to the seller. I didn't hear anything for a few days so I send a message on Ebay. This is the convo, I am 89bounty429.

Dear compsuccess,

The box was picked up and I was contacted by fedex asking about the package. They should have sent it back to you. Hope to have this back by the 16th.

- 89bounty429

Dear 89bounty429,

We will get the laptop back to you as soon as possible. We will give more information once it arrives at our facility.

Thank you

- compsuccess

Very simple no issue so far besides the laptop not working. Now this is a few days later after not hearing anything more.

Dear compsuccess,

Seems like I am not going to have this back by tomorrow like I was told. So whats the deal, did you fix the issue or what? I will be calling tomorrow after work if its not on my doorstep.

- 89bounty429

This is the ####ing reply I get that CLEARY was not supposed to go to me.

Dear 89bounty429,

He is an idiot. what a jerk, making such comments. we do not have his keyboard yet and as for as I know we do not even have his laptop. not my problem..

Now I am pissed. They F up then say that and are so stupid it gets sent to me. Clearly I call the place and had my fair share of my own words and opted for a refund. Guy says he it going to send me a message for some agreement that I have to make before I get a refund? So I get home and check my messages and this is what the thing says:

Dear 89bounty429,

Josh,

Per our phone conversation, you have opted to receive a full refund. Before we do so I will need one more reply from you. This is simply an agreement between us relating to feedback.

By receiving a refund in the amount of $249.00 the buyer id 89bounty429(buyer), agrees that this was a positive transaction. If you, the buyer, participate in the feedback process no less then positive feedback with five stars in each category shall be left. If any other feedback is left you, the buyer, authorize eBay to remove the feedback as it is in violation of this partial refund agreement.

That's it, just reply to this email that you agree to the terms of the refund and we'll send it.

Thank you

- compsuccess

So basicly they are trying to get away with that crap. Is it a huge deal like a big dollar engine deal gone bad? No, but they are one of the worst dealers I had anything to do with and they want me to keep my mouth shut about it. A holes. Thoughts?

Negative feedback, link to this thread in the comment, PayPal dispute/chargeback. Tell them you don't play nicely with people who try to extort you and that they can cram it up their collective asses. At least that's what I'd do.

It sucks that you had so much trouble with your experience with the seller, but I thought it was HILARIOUS that he sent that message to you by accident. He completely kicked himself in the balls with that one. Wow.

I wouldn't leave any feedback at all if it were me. You did get your money back (I assume you agreed to the e-mail), so no harm no foul. Your experience sucked, so they definitely do not deserve positive feedback, and although they were extremely rude, negative feedback may be harsh being that you got your money back.

Maybe I'm just too soft when it comes to giving ebay feedback

i had a seller rip me off on some headers so i hit him with solid neg feedback and this jack ass tried to buy from me to return the feedback. (thats when i learned ebay has a block, lol)

dude I would say take the refund and run. Seriously paypal does not give a rats ass about the buyer. Trust me I know. Take the refund first, then lodge a complaint with ebay and then leave the douche bag negative feedback.

agree and take the money. Then see talk to the dispute center at ebay and see if what he's doing is even legal.

Yea, that is basically the epitome of shady business practices. I say forward both of those emails to ebay and get it out in the open that this business is purposely trying to cheat the ebay rating system.

I hate people. This is why I avoid ebay. It's turned into such a lawless slum black market it's stupid.

My relationship with ebay is similar to that of Wal-Mart. I hate shopping there, I hate the people there, but sometimes the prices are too good to pass up.

Make sure you do whatever you have to do to get your money back. It would add insult to injury if they drug out the process any further cause you didn't honor your end of their bogus deal. Like everybody else that has advised....once that has happened then forward the email comm. to ebay/paypal and lodge a complaint.

Call eBay about this seller as soon as you can. Be prepaired to forward the messages while on the phone. I've had 3 buyers try that feedback blackmail with me, telling me to drop my price or they will hit me with neg FB. All three users were suspended immediately.

Also, leave neg FB now and get your money back through Pay-Pal. Not only will Pay-Pal work for you on this eBay issue, they will also do the same even if it's another internet business or retail store. They've saved me a few times.

If the seller left feedback right away you'll have no issue. If the wait til the end, they will hit you with neg as soon as you leave it for them. That should be averted by the call to eBay.

So how does the "I hate people" thing work when you interact in a social medium like this forum?
I figure you must take about 30 minutes to reply to someone because you have to edit out all of the di*khead & a**hole comments from your real thoughts

That is pretty much blackmail and disregards the entire point of feedback. What good is 1000 good feedbacks if 500 of them are forced like this?

What a joke ..that have 6 pages of crap listed so they are a business. and ebay will respond to this BS

If you reply its not binding.... I would simply reply with a link to the feedback extortion rules. Tell them you want a refund.

Report them to ebay and forward all messages to ebay and file a complaint. What they are doing is wrong. You will get your money back.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-extortion.html

Sellers:

The seller isn't allowed to require a buyer to leave positive Feedback or specific detailed seller ratings or to revise existing Feedback in exchange for either receiving the purchased item or issuing a full or partial refund. The seller also can't offer monetary compensation, an additional item, or other goods or services not in the original listing to the buyer if they will either leave positive Feedback or specific detailed seller ratings or revise existing Feedback.

If a buyer contacts a seller with a problem, the seller should make every effort to resolve it. The seller can't ask the buyer to take specific actions related to Feedback in exchange for the resolution of the problem.

After the issue is concluded,.
a seller may ask the buyer to leave positive Feedback or high detailed seller ratings, or request a revision of previous negative or neutral FeedbackWhether you are a buyer or a seller, this applies to all Feedback activity that takes place at any time before, during, or after delivery of items or services described in the original listing.

Make sure you follow these guidelines. If you don't, you may be subject to a range of actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

I love when poetic justice takes it's course. So now, he'll wind up refunding you in full, probably suspended, ON TOP OF bad feedback.
