Sup. Just got back into the game with a 1986 4-eye vert.

Are message boards still a thing? (I hope so)

New to Stangnet, but I've been around a few other forums back in the day... dfwstangs (both Canada version and when the mass exodus happened (IYKYK)), NHTOC, and NLOC. My son and I recently picked up a 1986 Mustang convertible. Looking forward to getting this back on the road.

First on the agenda is a new top so we can keep the inside dry. Also working on what route I want to go with for the engine. I'm currently looking for a 5.0/T5 combo. A 351w would be icing on the cake. This would probably be the easiest and cheapest way to get it back on the road. However, I also think the cost of a 5.0, getting it rebuilt, plus a few minor add-ons like a cam, roller rockers, heads, etc, plus everything to convert it to a manual, has me thinking about how far off I'd be from just putting in a Gen 1 Coyote engine.

Welcome!! I think we can all tell you knew what the assignment was since you shared a pic! ;)

For your dilemma, I think I'd stick to the pushrod engine just to get it back on the road. But if you don't mind having a project sit in your shop for a long time (depending on your definition of long....) it's hard to argue with a Coyote swap!
