Bought myself some cylinder heads and found a good amound of flashing around plug holes in the chambers and nicks on the top of the valve seats. I bought these instead of procomps because i thought the offshore stuff would be lots more work to prep for use.
Do afrs, trickflows, darts etc have to be cleaned up before install?
Thanks to those who answer and sorry for the whining.

i bought an air gap manifold from fleabay a while ago. part of me wonders if it was an eddy quality control reject. despite the fact that it was listed as new in box and shipped with all the eddy paperwork and the box. i wonder if some sellers are getting a hold of rejects that are meant to be destroyed and reselling them?

If you haven't cleaned them up already, take pictures and send them to Edelbrock. People are involved in teh process, so somebody could have made a mistake. Usually, as there stuff is made in America, I like to think that (insert average American Joe's name here) is a bit sharper tool than ping pong pang, who doesn't know or give a crap about small block Fords, or their heads...

I talked to a couple of friends with Chevs and they said the same thing. Really bad ports etc. I have had earlier heads from edelbrock and the stuff seemed fine. Anyhow seems like bad timing on edelbrock's part with all the offshore stuff now available which i almost bought(maybe i should have). But hey made in the USA should mean better quality and even if im Canadian I dont mind supporting the cause as long as i dont feel hosed for believing ol' Vics USA AOK hype. LOL

Which heads? The new etecks or whatever are the real cheap ones, that are meant to compete with the new offshore junk. These heads are pretty much performer heads that do not have the finish work in the ports and bowl area. Still a great head, but you could make them better with a little clean up work yourself and save money. You will ALWAYS have casting flash on ANY head you buy. I just take a die grinder and go around and chamfer any sharp edges. It is free and doesn't take alot of time. At least dimensionally the edelbrocks are right there and you won't have to spend any more money on fixing them like the procomp junk.

Thanks, it did only take 5 mins to clean them up.
They are those etecs with 2.02 valves. I had to buy some stiffer springs after finding out that i couldnt rev the motor past 5500 rpm or the valves would float with the springs they included. Got some 130# seat pressure springs for 100 bucks so i think im still ahead of the game.

Just because the parts are Made in America, doesnt mean that the people making them are.
