bitching is good, i just went down to NAVY recruit office and told them all how i felt their latest female recruit is dumb as hell. stupid she gets a job and ships in less than 2 months after getting her job. me i have been waiting for 3 months and will have to settle for reserves because there is nothing(except for females and ethnics). and i quote from the dumb one from last nights NAVY PT training session.

"Like, when i get to boot camp... are they just gonna start... yelling at me?" she asked this 3 times... 3... times... seriously i am going to start yelling at you if you don't shut up.

back on topic, i think thats over priced. i wouldn't buy it. but again as stated people will buy it if thats the look they are going for. to have a polished aluminum look in your engine bay you either going to have put lots of hours into it or you are going to have to shell out some serious dough.

and Eddelbrock is all about getting their customers through Powerblock thats all they do is play eddelbrock advertisement.

I have the regular one.. and its damm expensive... this one is way too expensive. I don't know what they are thinking. You could polish the regular one if you really wanted to. It wouldn't really be too hard.

I have the powdercoated black one. I got this one because I didn't want to hassle with having someone else powdercoat it. Some times it's just easier to buy it like this and bolt it on than track doing it yourself or having a local shop do it even if it costs a couple hundred more. Don't get me wrong I know that my intake was expensive and same with the polished unit.

I wouldn't polish an upper & lower for $400, that's for damn sure. I doubt any polishing shops would be interested in that either.

I have a friend who is into show trucks and he explained the polish thing to me so I could understand.
"anyone can keep chrome clean, the guys with the billet stuff, those are the guys that love their cars, b/c it takes hours,hours to polish that ****, and you have to do it often to keep it clean, it lets other truck guys know how serious you are."
Granted the intake isn't billet but it is a showpiece, the crowning apple and center stage at the show when you pop your hood. If it's not your bag, don't buy it.
1,000 bucks and everyone knows it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats the point, not everyone and their mother will have one of these on top of their 302's. With all the stangs out there, this is one way to brake from the herd. I wouldn't buy it, but I am going to shell out the $500 and change for the silver RPM II when the time comes and I won't complain, b/c thats what I chose to buy.

I agree about the china thing though. With all the outsourcing I wouldn't be suprised if the Eddy was actually made in China. It's not just the cheap labor, but the enviromental factor too. Over here, there are SO many codes and standards to meet just to be allowed to make the product, not to mention the taxes on American buisness, the labor is hindsight. Blaming it on the "high cost of labor" is just a way to justify to say Americans are greedy and a way to justify paying people less. The truth is that if you narrowed it down to the actual price they paid in labor for each unit there would be a very small difference. The laborer himself/herself is probally a few dallars if not cents, but once you consider the chain of command each level getting progressively higher in pay, there might be a factor there, but the guy actually handling the product, it's pennies I can bet you.

factor in the cost of doing business, workmans comp, unemployment tax, retirement, healthcare, etc. for each employee. toss in cost of running the company like insurance, utilities, supplies, taxes, etc. + the need to make a profit at gets expensive. does it justify the cost of that particular intake who knows but it does cost alot of money to do business in the US so props to any company that is willing to do it and keep out sourcing to the asians to a minimum or at all.
