I'm a newbie so bear with me if this is a stupid question. I recently picked up a 69 Coupe and have been going back and forth between keeping the 302 or swapping for a 351W. I found a great deal on a fuel-injected 351W that I believe came from a mid 90s van or truck. I know 69-70 351s will mostly drop right in, but I'm pretty sure it would be too tall with the intake. Can anyone confirm this for me, or has anyone done a similar swap? Thanks in advance

for cars in that era with the 351 efi engines, ford flattened out the upper intake s it would fit under the hood. however for trucks and van they had no issues with hood clearance, so the upper intakes were indeed taller by about 4-5 inches as i recall. that said however, if you scare up the intake, upper and lower, from a sedan of that same era, then you should be hood to go. another thing you can do is dump the efi intake, bolt on and aftermarket four barrel intake and run a carb, if you use the performer intake it should fit under the hood with no problems, you might have clearance issues with the rpm intake though.

They made a sedan with an EFI 351w? For some reason I was under the impression they were all trucks or vans.

the crown vics had the 351w in them, after 1982 they were used only in police cars. also there were a handful of factory built 1993 mustangs that had teh 351w installed as well.

The vics did, but iirc it was only as a carbed motor. I don’t believe they ever had a fuel injected 351w, even as late as 1991
