You're undoubtedly taking two steps back converting an already properly running EFI set up back to some archaic carb induction system....but if I've learned anything at all in this Forum, it’s that most of the people set on doing this swap are for some reason bull headed and locked into their mind set and you won’t change their line of thinking with any amount of logic.
In which case....good luck with the build. I hope you saved up some extra cash.
And you'll also note that in many of said tests, torque figures are often lower across the board, not to mention over all power output is far more sensitive to temperature and altitude changes, fuel mileage drops, emissions levels increase, passing smog testing is next to impossible. It’s not all roses man.This has been tested by many mags over the years; taking a stock EFI motor and putting an intake/carb on it to see the differences. I have yet to see one that did not produce more power with a carb.
FWIW carbs are what all Fox guys run around here. Cheaper, easier to work on, & really cleans up the engine bay. I have a total of 6 wires needed for the car to run.
Also, my '86 has the stock EFI in-tank pump backed down with a nice Mallory regulator. Never had any issues.

I agree, the carb and intake is going to offer a slight weight advantage, but aluminum heads fit on engines with both styles of induction. So really....is a 25lb weight advantage worth it? I'd rather pick it up with moving my battery to the trunk, or swapping out suspension components personally?not 100% true...
if its gunna be heavly raced a carb is the way to go. pure street in the NMRA is a very close class where you have the option to run carb or fuel injection
25lbs to go carb and 50 for tw heads. in my eyes that there says those 2 parts allow a big advantage
