I wish I could help. My conversion was done with a Mallory unilite distributor. If no one has a good answer to your question, the mallory works great. try it.

Are you sure you have an 85 distributor? The cap should be the same as the EFI. Also the distributor gear should be compatible because the 85 comes with a hydraulic roller cam as well.

Should be a normal cap? You have the bottom part of the cap snaped to the dizzy and are trying to snap the cap to that piece right?

The steel cam gear is mean't to be used with a roller cam and is correct for your f-cam.I don't know why to cap shouldn't fit on.Maybe try buying an 85' cap and see if it fits.If that doesn't work MSD makes a good distributor.

You need to buy the the wide cap adapter (The plastic part that the cap sits on). You can probably find one in the junkyard.

hahaha I did the same thing then realized the cap has two parts, I forgot the name of it though. It cost me about 5 bucks CAD to get a new one. Have a parts guy pull out what has for Ford ignition and distributor...

The one with the yellow dot shows the adapter that you should have or need.
