EGR Removal - 1994 GT

First off - I'm new to the forum but have been involved with Mustangs for years. Used to work for STE on the Cobra R and Super Stallion.

Has anyone eliminated the EGR from a '94 GT?

I did a search but came up with a bunch of 87-93 info. I have blocked off the EGR passage on my intake gasket as part of my 347 engine swap. I am wondering if I need to bolt on the EGR solenoid onto the side of the TB spacer. Will I get a code?

First, welcome to the boards

I have mine removed. I took it off when I got my longtube headers which didnt come with a bung. I blocked off the "elbow" of the upper intake with an aluminium plate. There's a guy on here that makes those plates and sells them on Ebay. He's called Wazee To not have a code, you're suppose to take the EGR sensor and push the "metal pin" half way in, and make it stay there. Then, throw that sensor in the back somewhere. Apparently, that is the way to not have a code or check engine light.

that does work until you have to disconnect your battery for whatever reason. i had no code until i did this. once the computer has re-learned everything, i'll unbolt the sensor again.

Which "metal pin" are you talking about?

Also - The engine is out right now and the ERG valve is not bolted on yet. The battery has been out of the car for a few days.

Do I have to hook it up and let everything work properly and then push the metal pin in with the b-off plate hooked up?

that's not true in my case at least. i did what Stangfreak95 said two years ago, and i've had my battery disconnected countless times since then. i haven't thrown the code for egr since day one.

the pin in question is sticking out of the plastic piece on the left of the following picture. and if it wasn't clear above, you don't have to wait to push the pin in halfway. it will work fine pushed in from the initial fire up.

Wanted to kick this back to the top where did you guys actually find a block off plate to buy? I've tried asking some speed shops around here and parts stores even showed them the above pictures and tried to get them to look it up as a 351C fuel pump block off plate. They all look at my like I'm crazy.

Also what should be done with the vacum line that usually goes to the EGR should it be blocked off or just open?

Yah thats about where I'm at right now just its kind of a hassle to make one when I know I could buy one pretty cheap.

Hassle? It is like a piece of sheet metal with two holes drilled in it. Would take 20 minutes at most. I just need the dimensions or you can wait until I take mine off within the next few weeks.

Shhh I'm trying to be lazy. I guess I could bust out the dremel on some medal that I don't have just yet but that would require sweat and work and such.

I took the EGR gasket and traced it onto a chunk of aluminum I had in the garage. Cut it out and that was it. Got a smog pump eliminator kit, blocked the back of the heads with the original bolts. Took the white sensor off, pushed the pin in and RTV'd it all around. Plugged it back in the connector and zipped tied it away from everything. Capped the header with a nut I got from Lowes. All the vacuum lines coming out of the passenger fender were RTV'd closed. Haven't had a check engine light in years.

Ahh thanks for the vac line answer. My smog pump as been gone for ages no worries there. I have a exhaust leak somewhere trying to make sure the EGR isn't the problem that and It's just a good excuse to remove it really.
