Hello everyone. Glad to be here, first post re my 1991 5.0. So, I’ve been slowly working on the engine and recently installed a cold air intake, replaced the spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and installed a 70mm throttle and spacer. Now, the car won’t start and I found a broken hose(see pic). Went to dealer and they said part is no longer made. Checked on LMR and orders a repair kit(see pic) waiting for it to arrive and hoping it works. Can anyone tell me if that’s the right kit and if I’m on the right track. I did try to fix it on my one, but didn’t work. Any feedback would be appreciated

Hi everyone. Brand new to foxbody world. Recently added cold air intake, 70mm spacer and throttle, spark plugs and wires. When finished noticed I had a broken line (see pic). Ford said they don’t make part anymore. Found one on LMR and wanted to know if that is the correct one to fix problem(see pic) or should I think about deleting the EGR solenoid?

I appreciate any advise.

thank you! I’m ni

That broken line wouldn’t prevent the car from starting.

pull the broken nub out. Push the remaining portion into the vac fitting. If it holds fast, that might be all you need to do “repair” it. You can also pull the good end out of the opposite side and insert that into where it’s broken and slide the elbow onto the broken end and see if it holds.

I’m not sure if the repair kit has barbed ends to secure it into the fittings. I’ve used heat shrink to join broken sections of those hard vac lines.

either way, this isn’t preventing your car from running. You can plug the line and keep troublshooting

I spliced in a piece of vacuum hose. Works fine.
they sell the hose at local auto stores. Buy the smallest one that fits very tight if you can’t just push the original one back into the nipple as stated above. That’s the vacuum line fix but not the starting fix.

My bad, let me rephrase. The car starts and will die after about 5 seconds. I will try that. Thanks

Still not that cause. That broken line would make it idle a little higher but that’s it. Off the EGR it’s regulated, so it’s not even direct vacuum. At idke there is no vacuum on that line.

The cold air intake has the MAF sensor on it. That can cause the start and shut off issue. Can you take a poc on the CAI ? Pulling the codes can also help figure it out.
