EGR valve delete question???

I dont have any emissions on my car.......smog pump, cats, canister, etc........ and my egr valve hasnt had a vacuum line on it for a few years now and it runs terrific. If I just make a plate and cover the holes in the intake that the egr was covering, can I eliminate the egr valve all together? I have already done it, but havent cranked it up yet, and Im wondering with the plug undone, will I get a check engine light? What do you guys think. I believe its been done alot around the stang community but Im just verifying.........Thanks

You said that you haven't had the vacuum line on the egr valve and you haven't had a check engine light. I would say go ahead and remove it and see what happens. If you get a check engine light you can always put it back on. I got a check engine light on mine but haven't had any problems with drivability so I am cool with it the way it is right now.

I figured if the egr valve wasnt operating correctly or at all, then whats the difference with removing it all together. Does the connector need to be connected to the valve anyways to get voltage to keep the check engine light out? Let me know.......thanks!

By the way I have a Cobra intake so there is no EGR plate.....just thought that might help a bit (LOL)

Unbolt the actuator from the EGR housing and leave it pluged in, I hid mine between the engine and firewall. If you unlpug the sensor its going to throw a code, shouldn't have any problems.

As for the egr ports in the heads you can either pull the lower off and use the solid inserts to block the holes off at the head or if your sure that you never going to have egr again you can plug the hole in the intake with some rock hard exhaust putty, its better to use the block off plates under the lower intake though sine it will prevent hot exhaust gas from heating up the intake.
