Eleanor body kit on a 65 fastback?

Just looking for info, this is a route thats in the thinking stage right now. Looking for opinions, pics, general info if anyone can help. I`ve never seen a 65 with the E kit on it before, very curious as to its possible outcome.

I live in Arkansas

and have been to lots of car shows around here, and have never seen an Eleanor. They might be lots of them on the west coast but they are none around here.

No kit I've seen comes even close to improving on the original lines of the '65 and '66 fastback. To my mind they just may them look somewhat overweight, pumped up, beefy. I prefer them to look trim, sporty and nimble, agile.

Seeing that 65-66 Eleanor reminded me of the Mustang body kits available for the Mazda Miata. Who knows what they were thinking:

Maybe a ground effects kit of some sort instead the e kit. Any ideas anyone?

Mustangs Plus has a ground effects kit. Not much too it but I really dont care for it. I may make my own out of glass. The front also has a piece that isnt on this one.

I agree, I think those kits just take away from the looks rather than adding to them. As was mentioned earlier they are "played" at this point.

We built this one for a customer. It has an Eleanor hood, side scoops and deck lid.

Wow!!! From that 1st pic I thought it was a 4x4 Stang, second pic looks like suspension settled down some.

Please Please

PLEASE....whatever you do....DON'T flare the fenders on your 65FB . I think it's sacrilege to destroy the line on these cars. Flares IMHO are U. G. L. Y. Ugly.

did you shave the headlight bucket louvers on this one? i kinda like that touch...may go with it myself....

as for the mustangs plus kit, I think the full 6 piece kit looks pretty good on a coupe with the street shelby-type apron(but it cant have one of those ugly front spoilers) I've been tempted to go with it myself for awhile now...but then, I am trying to update the look of my car quite a bit...full de-chroming, modern EFI turbo engine....etc etc, not for everyone

I'm not sure about flares, I kinda like these. Then again i haven't seen the rest of the car... I'd like to get a far away shot to see how they look from a distance.

I have only ever seen one flared 65-66 I liked...in an old 70s issue of hot rod i have, it looked mean as hell...but it still ruined the lines, it looked like a muscle car, not a pony car

i think my flares keep the lines off the car that why i used them, they are only 1.5 inches larger than factory <center>

I thought the Miata body kit was a real mustang when I first saw it but then something looked a little out of place proportionally then the wind shield gav it away but I still think its a cool looking kit. As far as an elenaor kit for a first gen, I think it ruins the lines, it does look cool but I wouldn't do it to mine. Also I noticed the rear spoiler, I thought the early design fast back was to allow the trunk/deck lid act as a spoiler due to the slope of the fast back. So why add more drag? Of course most of us wouldn't be concerned with that as running a 40+ year old car at that kind of speed is at risk of losing it.
