One can use a meter on the switch and motor to see what inputs and outputs (from the switch) are occuring.

A ground issue comes to mind, esp if you have had the same wet weather we have of late.

Good luck.

My old 88 had that problem.. I guess the owner after me figured out that some gear inside there had a worn spot, where the window would get stuck in, and the motor couldn't pull it back out.

If you can tap on the bottom of the motor and it starts moving, you have a dead spot in the motor. Been down this road many times with the old 65 Tbird, and it worked the same on the 88 mustang.

To verify that the motor is the problem (when its not working), you can watch the voltmeter on the dash and when you push the window switch, the needle will drop. If not, then the problem lies somewhere else.
