I am in the process of changing over to an electric cooling fan set up for my 87stang. I have hooked up right now a fan off a 95 taurus and will soon get a 3g alt. However, I also might get two brand new fans from Hayden off the shelf. My question is, do the brand new fans by hayden require as much power as the fan off the 95 taurus, basicly should I keep my original alternator and buy the new fans or do I buy a new 3g alt?

Anyways this forum is great, Always appriciate your guys help in answering everyones mustang questions!

Thanks all!

Just go with the 3G upgrade, you won't be disappointed. Plus if your gonna add a car stereo system and if you have electric windows. You will definately upgrade to a 3G, its a easy install.

Agreed. Even on a fox with a mech fan (as mine is), the 2G cant keep up. Simply stated, on a DD, dont try to run an elec fan with a 2G (you can, people have, but you have to really watch accessory draw).

Good luck.

Stick with the taurus fan and get the 3G. That is a reliable, proven setup that cools exceptionally well.

:Word:

The Hayden fans won't gain you anything over what the Taurus fan already puts out. Keep it and grab a 3g, and be done.
