Resolved Electric fans

new to the group with my 89 gt convertible. I just installed new electric fans from LMR . And stumbled across connecting the 12v power when you turn on the key. I know it says connect to the ac wiring but my ac don’t work. Was wondering if yall connected it somewhere else or in the fuse box. Please and thank you

You did not mention how the fans are controlled (by temp, or otherwise).

My guess is that the fans are not drawing power from the OEM A/C circuits but using them to activate.

My suggestion for straight power would be a fused relay fed by the power post at the ignition solenoid and triggered by an [ignition On] source.

If you have a link to the install instructions you're using, that would help.

Also if using the Dakota digital controller, ensure you set it to "No Gauge" in the bluetooth setup.
Next lower the turn on fan speeds. If you use their y-block, it will make the temps read higher.
To compensate, turn on the fans at 150 degrees and it should be closer to the 180 degree range of the engine.

Just a few tips I ran into.
Also -
The Dakota controller uses ground to activate the relays.
Run your relay main power direct to your battery.
You can use your coil power wire as the key-on source.
Lastly you can tap off the wire going to the compressor for your signal when AC is on.

Let us know what you find.

They are asking you to connect to AC wiring in order to activate the fans when you turn the AC on. SInce you don't have it, you are just going to activate based on coolant temp

Just installed some new electrical fans from lmk to my 89 foxbody. But I’m having trouble finding and locating a good 12v source (yellow cable)for the power to the fans. Which or what wire yall tapped in.Please and thank you

And ps yes I tapped in the green ignition wire but was robbing power and wouldn’t let me start the car
