I am contemplating doing some pullies and installing a electric fan this weekend. My questions are: 1. will I notice a considerable horsepower increase? 2. Do I have to buy a new alternator (3g) to use pullies? Also is installing a electric fan something a person who never has done one should do?

Any advice always appreciated.

Well heres how it went for me. I've had pulley's for a while, then my clutch fan took a dump so i picked up a Black Magic (not the best fan). Anyways installing the fan is no big deal, I think I was like 18 at the time. And yes its probably a good idea to get a new alternator, it was the first thing I did after the fan. As for power gains I did the two seperately and felt nothing really, but you should definately get some results from.

No you won't notice a substantial increase in power doing the e-fan OR pullies.. or both at the same time.

If you haven't done the 3g yet, then hold off on the pullies for now, do the fan and 3g, then pullies after that. For starters, the fan will draw more power than your charging system is used to, and the pullies will probably reduce the output of the alternator somewhat.

I hate underdrive pullies anyway, they're worthless IMHO.. I can't say of any of the truely fast cars I've ridden in, in my lifetime, that underdrive pullies had a thing to do with it.
