MKVIII fan all the way!!!!!!!! Do it once and never look back. They are MONSTERS!!!!!!!!1
mk8 fan 97 pulls 4100 cfm.......... The only other fan that pulls more air is the 2001 dodge viper fan, pulling 4300 cfm.
If you drill the rivets out of the Mk8 fan motor and use bolts and nuts to mount the new motor, You can always keep a spare motor in the trunck, In case-the orginal spazs out (which is a rarity) but for cheap insurance, You'll never get caught short. The motor band new is $100.

I run a 94-95 Sn95 fan. It uses a similar motor/blade design to the taurus/mark8 except the fan center is offset slightly.

I do have a mark 8 fan, and been debating making the swap. The mark 8's fan shroud is MUCH cleaner IMHO

BTW...nto all M8 fans are the same

part # is F3LY8C607A
93-96 use p/n F3LY 8C607 A @ 245.80
The 93-96 spin 1100 rpmson low and 1850 on highspeed.
97’s use p/n F7LZ 8C607 AB @ 196.23
98’s use p/n F8LZ 8C607 AA @ 140.11
The 97-98 spin 1800 on low and 2225 on high.
They all look the same, all come with a shroud. The 93-96 spin slower according to Ford Motorsport Tech line.

From what i remember from my Mark 8 days, the newer fans spin faster, but have a lower pitch blade. The idea was to quiet the fan down because the old-timers were complaining it was too loud.
