Electric fan swap ,need help/advice

My name is Ernan and i'm born in Bosnia / Europe ,now live in USA

I going to install fan from 94-95 Mustang GT on my friends 90 GT in favor stock clutch tipe fan
So I was wandering how did you guys wire up electric fan, i mean what did you use to turn fan on on certain temperature (example 170F)
I know how to wire up with switch but i don't wanna kill motor in fan with runing non-stop
I know there is some kinda relays (or what ever they call them) to turn fans on

You and your friend should check out www.dccontrol.com. That is the unit a lot of us use, myself included, to control our electric fans. Mr. Baskin (the owner) can help you out if you have questions. You can also post back up on here if you have questions and someone will try to help you.

My DCC unit works wonderfully; I also purchased the light which you can put inside your car to show you when the fan is on - well worth the $10!

Ernan, James has the right way to do it.

You can also use a 1980 VW rabbit fan switch. One has to tap a location for the switch (often the thermostat housing).

Or a typical on/off fan controller and a Bosch 75 amp relay should work.

I used a Flex A Lite variable speed controller
for my Taurus 3.8 fan, works very nicely
and I believe it's a little cheaper than the
other unit mentioned.

No relays or other switches needed.
You can set it to whatever on temp you want.
It "soft starts" the motor to avoid a high
spike in the amp draw.
I wired an LED in the dash to show
when it's on. Hooked into the wires
going from the control to the fan.

It's available on Summit Racing.
The more expensive one will run a
fan that requires up to 40 amps,
the cheaper one will run a fan up
to about 30 amps.

I would go with James suggestion, DCC controls are the way to go, I'm also switching to DCC eventhough I have the same setup you're looking for. Since DCC has some backlog problems, you might want to check (as a temporary installation) http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=FLX-31147&N=115+4294924500+4294839058+4294860934+4294860844&autoview=sku. It should also available in your local Pep Boys or Autozone store. Keep in mind that a DCC control will help to safeguard the alternator from the load demands of the fan(s), reason why I'm switching to DCC. Hope this helps. GL
