I purchased an electric fan off of a 92 3.8 Taurus, how do I go about wiring it up so I can actualy set the temp when the fan should come on??? Thanks for your help in advance!
Shurb125: re-read my post You can use a SPAL or Hayden controller.
aod92: your time is coming. Here's why:
Figure this:
Ignition system & computer = 12 amps
Fuel pump = 12 amps
Exterior lights = 15 amps
Fan (heater or A/C) = 15 amps (can run between 5-25 amps depending on setting)
Radio & instruments = 10 amps
Wipers = 10 amps
That's grand total of 74 amps from a 65 amp alternator. Talk about overdrawn at the bank!
If you never drive anyplace but the racetrack, you may get by. Stop and go driving at night with the lights & heater on won't cut it.
I see DCC doesn't even show models on his website, just a contact email for members of a few forums.
I am ready to purchase one, does anyone know what model number they are running? I will be running a Taurus Fan, 3g alternator and want something that will turn a small light on (in the car dash area) to alert me when the fan is on.

He also told me that I didn't need to upgrade the alt that I would be fine. Does this sound right. I really don't want to use a probe to push through the radiator fins nor do I want to run it with a toggle switch, I want it to turn of and on at a certain temp and go off at a certain temp I also want to install a LED light near the dimmer switch so I know when it's off and when it's on. Do you gentlemen think this set up will work??? Thanks again for all your help and insight!
Not sure why you need an lcd to tell when it is on, you will hear it for sure.
