The electric fan that my mechanic put on my car back when the engine got rebuilt stopped working So now I have to get a new one. The one the mech put on was like off of a grand am. I was wondering if anyone else had an electric fan on their II and what kind they had. It needs to be pretty skinny seeing as I have clearance issues with the 5.0 Any suggestions?

Why not try a clutch fan instead? They don't require electrical hookups and in my opinion they work just as well as an electrical one.

You might search on "Taurus fan" to find some threads on electrical fan installs. I know a lot of II owners have used the electrical fan from the Taurus.

Hi! your car is a 74 like mine Did you cut the rad support and take the latch off and use hood pins or you just trimmed the lip that is there on the 74 model to mount the rad closer to the Rad sopport.Do you want to use a fan as a pusher or puller

On mine I unstalled a pusher in front of th rad decentered on the passenger side a little bit,and I used to have a 4 blade fan of a v-6 engine that was original with the car and I used no spacers betwen the pulley and the fan...It works very well with a shroud from a v-8 II. Now I only run an electric pusher...But I know what works for Montreal doesn`t necesseraly works for Texas

um..I didnt do the work myself...but my boyf is probably going to fix it for me so I'll pass that info onto him. lol

What were the measurement of your fan clutch? I had one from from a salvage yard a year ago but it was too long.

Instead I went with thermal activated dual 12's in front. but still retained a thin flex fan on the pulley.

Currently I don't even have a fan installed... however the fan clutch I had in mind is coming out of an 8x Monarch with a 302. I measured it once and I think it will work.

I install only Mr. Gasket electric fans on my own cars, and on customer's cars for several good reasons.

1. They have MADE IN USA printed on them.
2. They're affordable
3. They cool my Stang. (A 14" on the back of the rad, and a 16"(17"?) on the front - Push and pull arrangement)
4. They're very thin for their CFM rating.
5. They look good.
6. Jegs sells them. (I'm getting sick of Summit lately, and prefer Jegs now)

I have insider information on the 10 most popular electric fan companies. (number of warranty claims per year) I will not go into it, but lets just say my car has a pair of 10" Mr gasket electric fans. Not expensive, not cheap and they do not break!! The II stays as Kool as a cucumber. (warmed over 302 with tall rear gears and a very short tire). [Heavy footed driver with his finger on the nitrous arming switch)

I found 2 fans I like, the mr.gasket 10x3 inch and a perma cool that is 10x 2 and a quarter. I think the perma cool will fit better. My boyf said it cant be any wider the about 3 inches so I think going a little narrower will be better.

They can both be used as pusher or puller

All you gotta do is pop off the retainer clip for the fan, slide the fan off the shaft, flip it over, slide it back onto the shaft, pop retainer clip back on. (Then reverse the polarity of the wires) and it flows backwards.

I've had the 14" mister gasket inner fan on my car for 5 years, and the larger outer fan on there for 2 years, and they're both still operating flawlessly. No weird noises, no excessive vibrations, no wobbles, no burning smells, yet enough airflow to cool my 500+ hp motor.

"MADE IN USA" !! Yeah boy.

So much HP do you think you get back by losing the power steering and fan. I'm stripping my engine down to just a high output alternator and planning on dual pusher fans. I'm also moving the gel-cell battery to the trunk to really clean things up.
